I just happened to catch a u-Tube video that Shopsmith recently released. This video highlighted 3 jigs that Nick has developed and offered the plans free. Just download them.
I can't find them. Does anyone know where they are except on the new free dvd that is being offered if one buys a upgrade kit.
Guess I got to start spending more time on u-Tube -- except that takes away from the Shopsmith web site time.

Hey Dusty,
I beilieve that Nick puts the video's on u-tube to test before adding them to the Sawdust sessions I saw the same video and he was reffering to the blackboard. So it will be a future show. That is what I believe and of course I could be wrong. I hope all has been well with you. My next project is a rocking horse for a new Grandson on the way. Geez time is sure flying.

The tips to which Dusty is referring are a set of four tips I did to help the Upgrade sale currently going on. Three of those were published on YouTube ahead of schedule, and I took them down. We'll be posting 1 per week until the end of September and sending out emails with each one.
Since we are of in the midst of restoring our 1984 "Goldie," Drew, Phil, and I also put together a DVD on upgrading from a 500 to a 510 and a 510 to a 520. These videos are much more extensive and detailed that I would otherwise have time to do on a Sawdust Session. The DVD is entitled, "Ugrading Your Shopsmith Mark V: 500 to 510 to 520." For a short time it will be offered free with any upgrade purchase. The part number is 522546 and the cost is $24.95 is you're interested in buying one without the upgrade kit attached.
With all good wishes,

I ordered my 510 -> 520 upgrade 3 days before this was posted and it shipped after this post. I like the new fence and rails, it arrived timely and well packed, but I didn't receive any DVD. Maybe the offer was for a very, very "short time".Nick wrote: The DVD is entitled, "Ugrading Your Shopsmith Mark V: 500 to 510 to 520." With all good wishes,
I never really liked my 510 fence and then the rear rail clamp snapped in two as I was locking it down. I'm guessing I tightened it too much in the past trying to eliminate fence drift and the repeated stress caused it to fail. While looking for parts, I noticed that the plastic protector on the clamp was missing, likely adding to the force needed to lock steel on steel to hold the rear of the fence in place. I never noticed this since I bought my 510 used. Maybe the crack was there for a while, preventing me from tightening the rear of the fence properly and explaining my problems with alignment. I'm guessing the plastic piece helps a lot too.
I ordered a new rear clamp and protector for the 510 fence but also decided to order the 520 upgrade. This turned out to be a very good thing since the rear clamp is on backorder and would have stopped any ripping until it arrived.
When replacing the rails, I found that one of the posts had snapped off of the 510 main table front rail. With three points of attachment the spacer stayed on and it was never noticed but may have also contributed slightly to my alignment woes.
I really like the feel of the new fence and placing it straight down on the rails. I've been through installation and allignment but have been so busy dovetailing drawers, I haven't had a chance to use it yet. (Dovetails with an Akeda jig... someday in another post.)
So, what do you all do with the leftover rails and fence from your 510? I was thinking of some sort of sled for crosscutting using the fence as the miter rail, maybe even sawing a chunk out of the 510 fence for blade clearance if the sled extends to the other side of the blade. But I haven't thought about it much and I know there are people here who have probably built amazing things with the leftover fence and/or rails.
About the DVD, call customer service and see what they say.
SS 500(09/1980), DC3300, jointer, bandsaw, belt sander, Strip Sander, drum sanders, molder, dado, biscuit joiner, universal lathe tool rest, Oneway talon chuck, router bits & chucks and a De Walt 735 planer,a #5,#6, block planes. ALL in a 100 square foot shop.
