ER low speeed RPMs

I am setting up my nephews ER with a SC this weekend, he is a turner and has been doing turning on his 54 Greenie, just want to refresh the ER low end RPMs on the ER with a SC, 400? to 1100? He goes by tool performance and size, but just want to give him the range # in RPM. Not that it is critical for him, like any turner knows what is out of range by experience. Just that he was not that able to go that low b4 and now cant go that high like on his greenie, I am guessing high to add a Bees Wax and polish!

The accessory catalogue says 425-6800 rpm
I just went out and measured mine, in the low range, 485 rpm min to 1585 rpm max. I think belt width probably effects results.
I have never had a need to put it in high range.

I think you are right on belt width. The SC manual I have lists the low range as 425-1600 and the high range as 1850-6800.

Thanks all for the info and just in time, the ER I mean. He was turning a 5" diam x about 2' long piece of an Ash tree that had died and he cut down today.
At some point he turned the greenie off, and when he went to start it again just a hummmmmm, even when he gave it a hand turn. Tripped the breaker b4 he got it turned off. Turns freely. I bet the start switch in the motor, but have not done any trouble shooting on it other then see if it turns freely.
