The only way I can see the table being the cause would be if the miter slot was milled too deep. That doesn't seem likely.

I agree it seems unlikely, but take a look at the photos he posted. The miter slot extrusion is well below the table surface. Made me suspicious and then someone else said what I was thinking.

I'm confused! A new bar?? It is the bottom of the bar that makes contact with the aluminum extrusion. A new bar, even though it could be a different size, will still rest in the bottom of the aluminum miter track insert. I fail to see how a new bar will correct the originally stated problem.

I think that customer service is shooting in the dark on this one. Throw parts at it until it goes away.

Why are you confused? Maybe I am. I think he said send back the fence bar not the table T slot miter gauge bar. If the table slot is correct then the fence bar is wrong.

Let SS figure it out, then we will know.

Replacing that particular aluminum extrusion is totally logical even though (if that is the cause) you could easily have fixed it with a few strokes of a flat file.

Yeah, I could have done that but then the MS wouldn't be able to see if there is a problem. I would have to buy me a file to fix it, also. Paper worked as a temp fix and hopefully I can recycle the paper with the new bar.

Unless the notch is deeper in the replacement bar, you will be back to square one.

Shim or file. I don't know that fence system. Is the height in the back (as shown in the gap) adjustable? If not, I would clamp down the fence. then loosen all the hold down bolts for the guide, measure the gap, and shim accordingly. That will get rid of the gap in the fence. Anything left over in the miter gauge you'll have to file out of the guide.

Yay, I got my bandsaw fence bar 20 minutes ago. It included a note on the packing slip, "Inspected 7/11/16 Notch is cut to proper depth. Jim McCann Quality Mgr" Alright! I measured the new notch and got .0855 left and right. That is deeper than the other. I get the bar installed and my paper shims removed from under the t-slot extrusion.BAM!

I guess the slot in the table is milled too deep then. Another phone call to customer service in the morning.

Does this resemble the aluminum extrusion that you have?
