Craigslist Fun...

Post by Skizzity »

Not! I put this ad up a few months ago and repost when it expires.

http://cosprings.craigslist.org/clt/5676523088.html

The last time I reposted I dropped the price $50. This last week a guy contacted me about them and after several text messages we agreed on a price.

He decided that SE Colo Spgs was too far to drive from Denver. I relented and agreed to meet him halfway in Monument. I was ready to just be done with these.

Today, we meet up and he says, "Uhh, that's not what I was expecting." He didn't want them. I turned around and walked away, livid. I guess he was expecting full size books.

So, the question. Was my post misleading in any way or is his reading comprehension just lacking?

I learned from this interaction that from now on I will mention up front, again that they are miniature.

Not misleading you said it in the title, he missed it, all he saw was everything after Miniature.

You might want to post a picture that includes something for size reference. Can't tell how small they are. But, yes, the guy should have asked about how miniature is miniature.

Well, there is a size dimension box that says 3"x4"
But I will retake the picture to alleviate any further confusion.

I never used them because you basically need a magnifying glass to read them. LOL

EXACTLY (along with the title). Some people don't read, don't know how to read or don't understand what they just read. The guy was a jerk and I would have been mad if I drove to someplace because someone wanted to buy my Item and then refused.

There is nothing wrong with you're add. You just got bit by an inconsiderate fool.

Its funny, most of my 2 shops now all are off of CL, and at least 50% out of town a bit, now I live in WI where there are still values and integrity and hand shake, half of my stuff was bought over the phone and a a promise that I will be there either there time frame or mine, they held the promise and so did I even though they had cash in hand offers b4 I could get there, that they promised to hold it for me. Heck I had a guy from northern IL selling a ER with the speed changer, his dads for $200 with other goodies, A Tool Craft Shaper, later I found out the turning chisels hid dad had, along in the deal, were worth about $200 when I gave them to my turner Nephew.
Here is how it went down, it was an ER and this stuff I described on CL, he lived in north central IL, I called him on Wednesday night and gave him my moms thing and really the best time my schedule would be to drive down was Sat or Sun afternoon, it was a 2hr drive by Map, Bmer in about 90 minutes depending on left lane huggers. He said wont work, we are going to Milwaukee, WI for the weekend, I said I am in a suburb of Milw, and I will give you an extra $20 for your inconvenience if you have the time to deliver it. 230 ish he and his wife in there Mini van and the Er and shaper are being delivered. Thats integrity!!!
It now with Skips help on belts and his high end pulley, they were goovey ones on it, different post, my ER DP. Smooth as silk. Thats how I do business and did when I owned my own, some sometimes a hand shake deal even in the 10 Ks if my instincts were right and when they were right for a K job, had all the paper worked signed seal and delivered by my partners retired dad who was an attorney.
OBTW never got burnt on hand shakes, on contracts, 2 but did a burn on them, who we have Legal leans on there homes, cant sell or refinance, or Home Equity loan, on them while the Leans are on and we have first dabs.

I never CL or EBay because I have children and grandchildren that are prolific internet users and they say instances such as this is common.

They call CL a joke with people playing games to see how many loops they can put buyers/sellers through. Then the culprits go on social media and brag that they made this guy travel x number miles, or take this many pictures, or supply this much documentation and etc.
some seem to love to order something and then refuse delivery or send it back.

It is a big game to these scum.

To add insult to injury you are now probably part of some idiots brag that he made you drive this far knowing he was never going to buy.

Sorry for your grief from this idiot but you have probably been pranked as the kids call it.

But consider yourself lucky the news had a story about a guy the sold a $40 projector to one of these scum and long story short ended up having to pay $20,000 to settle the suit. All he ever did was sell the projector.
