Sorry Bob but I've always thought I was the worst speller in the world, now I have to wonder.

Ed
OK Ed, here is an example...

I typed in Jointer in another post. It was 'spelled wrong", huh. It is shown as spelled wrong in this post BTW.

Right click on the word and here is what you get.

Pointer
Jo inter
Jo-inter
Joiner
Jointed

What the heck is 'Jo inter' or 'Jo-inter'? What dictionary is that in? Jointer comes up as jointer on Google, duh.

Here is another one. Logitechk750 does not come up as an error either here. If it is not in the dictionary why not. Google corrects it to Logitech k750.

Huh   Is English not your native language?

Well, if you say so but the words you quoted are not confusing in their definitions to me. They are all totally different with different meanings.

So the question is how are you spell checking with google? If you are using a search engine and type that word in firefox will highlight it as misspelled, then if google can find the word it is not spell checking it is searching, different function different result.

If you are sure that the word you want to use is correctly spelled then it pretty simple to add it to your dictionary:

Now remember the question was if the forum was providing spell checking.... and the answer is no. The spell checking is via the program you are running to visit here. If you were in say Edge and type in jointer it would not highlight it as misspelled because it is already in their dictionary.

If you have a word like your name say as an example it might not know it so reible will be flagged as misspelled each and every time I type it in but I know is my name so I don't worry that I misspelled it and just let it be highlighted. If it bother me I would simply added it and poof the highlight is gone.

Because tough/tuff are two different words and mean different things.

How about there and their. How about women and women (plural).

Tuff is a word.

a light, porous rock formed by consolidation of volcanic ash.

One doesn't only have to know how to spell but one has to know the context of the sentence and the proper spelling of the word in the sentence.

I will go back to 'there and their'. The words are pronounced the same. What they mean is totally different and the context of the sentence and the spelling determines the definition of the word.

I agree John, Tuff is Proper Noun, not an adjective, like "tough" or what I thought "tuff" could/should be, "my steak was "tuff".

I doubt thy steak was like a rock!

Ain't our education system wonderful? They do not critique hypothesis, but simply plunge ahead and use our children as guinea pigs. Guess at spelling! Sheesh and they 'teach' kids to guess arithmetic answers today.

A problem with having persons with overdeveloped memories and under developed ability to think as 'administrators'.

End Rant!

I was at the Grocery store the other day, it was like $, I dont remember but gave a big bill and a butch of singles, just to like get a 5 back and eliminate the singles, even though the Register did the math for him, he looked at me like a deer in the head lights, I said a 5 bill and .30 back b4 the register told him. I find that sad.
