Here's a related question, asked by my 7th-grade science teacher.

Does the Earth rotate clockwise, or counterclockwise?

The teacher didn't much like my answer, because it wasn't "textbook".

What was your answer?
I asked "Viewed from which pole?" He said it didn't matter. I attempted to demonstrate that it did, by rotating a pencil that represented the Earth. He accused me of reversing rotational direction during viewpoint change. It took me about 5 minutes to show him the light. :rolleyes:

The textbook said "counterclockwise", period. :(

If clocks ran counter-clockwise, they wouldn't be clocks. They would be counter-clocks. :confused:
