Deletion

Post by dgreen810 »

I wasn't aware that you needed to be on a particular politically correct side of the spectrum to post on this forum. If an Administrator doesn't care for a view substantiated on "Facts" and arbitrarily deletes a post and gives no reason other than I can do and so I will, you can take this forum and stick it where the sun doesn't shine. The forum has my email address as well as my phone number and sees fit not to give me an explanation as to why the post # 218936 was deleted!!!

Don, if you do not already know why that post was deleted, it would be futile to offer you an explanation!!

The unfortunate fact is - there are many other posts that should be deleted for the same reasons this one was.

Thank you, Dusty. Took the words right out of my mouth. Now lets get back to making sawdust.

The Mother Ship runs and supports this Forum and wants to keep it "friendly and non offensive" to lurkers/new potential buyers.

Dusty, you mean some of mine??? ;) :D  Love ya, stay cool, and remember it is a dry heat, 90* tomorrow and dew points in the 70s. I had to buff up with the green Scotch Brite pad and JPW all the cast iron again today in the garage, just did it on the 1st.

Don, it may just be policy not to have political posts here.

I once (a long time ago) was a moderator at a computer
hardware manufacturer's forum, and I instituted that policy.

In fact, I had to delete a few accounts, not just posts, for
repeated violations of posting rules.

Just so you all know, "Freedom of Speech" STRICTLY
involves PUBLIC forums. Since Shopsmith OWNS this site,
THEY can set the rules.

10 ER, stripped down.
Basic 10ER, Parts machine. Will be a semi-dedicated drill-press machine.
10 ER, a "survivor" of the trailer fire, in the back yard, needing restoration. Has a Mk5 headrest. Finally, stripped down.
Numerous parts, for Model 10 stuff. Except for lower saw guard, A and B adapters, I've got it.

Looking for one more, or some 9 inch extension table raisers.

Yes, when I have started some here, I got PMs from the Admin explaining the MS point of view/rules, as I posted, she does not want lurkers and potential buyers scared off. I dont agree in that in Community, but it is her football!!!

Sooner or later, we all will probably post something the Admins don't like. This isn't a public forum, but instead one owned by Shopsmith. If the Admin feels a post isn't "politically correct", it disappears.

And, remember that "political correctness" has no true definition. Like beauty, it is in the eyes of the beholder, and everybody sees it different. What offends one person is correct to another.

Forget 'political correctness'. It is an oxymoron.

I believe good judgement is needed to prevent 'deletion'. If it would offend anybody, it is likely not a good thing to post.

Yes there are differing thresholds for being offended, but to err on the side of caution is a good idea.

Not 'advice' I have followed myself in the past, but I realize some folks have a much lower threshold than I.(mine is very high ;) )
