Info on a 10E or 10ER
I found a posting on my local Craigslist for a shopsmith. Took a look at the ad and all there was, was 3 pics and no info. I know it's a 10E or 10ER but not sure which. Am thinking about buying it because the asking price is $50 but would like a little info on it such as noticeable problems, missing parts, and anything else you can tell from the 2 pics. I fell in love with my greenie, but this might be the one that gives me that bug. You know. The one that makes the wife start asking questions...

Condition appears reasonable.(some rust)
Most stuff is there except lathe stuff and the drill chuck, but that maybe somewhere near(or easily acquired).
Interesting mod to the 'medallion'. Vertical lock knob appears missing.

Some crazy electrical work 
I would by it for parts and still look for a more complete one for a few more $, all depending on what you want to use if for, lathe, drill press dedicated would be okay. Also depends on your locality and how often these come up. In South East side of WI one a month at least, and in more complete condition and some with the coveted Speed Changer for $200+ or - 50$ish. The most I paid for one of 4 was $250 asking price with a SC and clean and complete with a shaper and jointer head, and I did not negociate, since he held it for me on a promise to purchase in 4 days from contact, not cash in hand the same day on CL when he posted it. If then I would have thrown out $215.

Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them.

This is the first time I've ever seen one posted near me and I've been looking through ads for a few years now. There's not even that many shopsmith's that get posted. Im not really looking for a machine that's going to need alot of parts, but don't mind putting in time if that's about all. I've heard that they're better as a lathe/DP then the older shopsmith and my initial thought was to use it as a dedicated lathe instead of my greenie.

You will like the added weight for a lathe. That low speed sounds great compared to other shopsmith's. I know the pictures aren't great, but is there anything major missing? Mainly any expensive/hard to find parts? Im trying to get as much info before contacting so I know what I might be getting myself into.

Below is a link to my public Google Drive. There you will find fully restored copies of the 10E and 10ER Owners manuals that I finished earlier this year with the invaluable help of some other forum members here.
Each contains pictures with increased contrast, original text, redrawn exploded parts lists, along with oversize exploded parts drawings (minus the part designators to improve legibility), and a few notes.
Once you open a file there, an arrow will appear along the top that will allow you to download the file to your computer if desired.
The Table of Contents is active, so if you click something, it will take you to that page / text. The text is also word searchable in the PDF's unlike the scanned copies made into pictures of pages you may find elsewhere.
You can also increase the size of the text to improve readability, or scale the drawings up for a bit more detail.
You are welcome to anything there.

Very nice work Everett. Thanks for the link to all the info. I sent a message to see if it came with more stuff not pictured but the guy said it's all in the pictures. I'll go take a look at it and report back whether I snagged it or not. If I do, I will be needing alot of help!
