New 10er's
Hey guys,
I got extremely lucky. Two different people in two different towns actually gave me a 10er each if I came after them. My son and I made a weekend out of it and came home with both of them. Both are in pretty fair shape, one with a motor that has wiring trouble and the other without. Both have the tables and one came with a speed changer and a whole grocery bag of goodies. Sorry no pics. Wondering about age --#1 serial number is ER19162. #2 serial number is 77068. Anybody have an idea on age. Will get them going ASAP and get out some pictures. Thanks for any help.

Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them.

Re: New 10er's
Suspenders, I have 3 and gave the 4th one to my nephew, for a lathe, all original motors, I am not an expert on them since the ones I have rescued were running minus some rust/aluminum oxidation, but I think a new motor will have the capacitor on the bottom and the table base will interfere with setting belt tension, so a notch has to be cut out for that. The ones here that sleep and eat with them and make show Ponies out of them, will chime in on that. I just ride em hard, and put them away wet.
Thats what an ER can handle and likes.

IIWM, I would consider relocating the capacitor etc.ERLover wrote:Suspenders, I have 3 and gave the 4th one to my nephew, for a lathe, all original motors, I am not an expert on them since the ones I have rescued were running minus some rust/aluminum oxidation, but I think a new motor will have the capacitor on the bottom and the table base will interfere with setting belt tension, so a notch has to be cut out for that. Guess I've caught the disease. I just rescued another machine. Not a 10er this time but a freebie. No motor but hey, it only cost me $30. Will get it squared away and get some pics out.
