Incra Miter Guage V120 Modification

Post by dgreen810 »

I hope this is not too boring but it may help someone else with the same problem. I have been following the thread on the "Miter Set" and find it so intriguing that I may spring for one but in the process of checking things out ran on to this little dilemma. I purchased a second SS Mark V a couple of years ago to get some items I wanted and sold it for a couple of hundred more than I paid for it. I received a Incra V120 miter gauge and a Miter Pro with it and without doing too much thinking let my SS miter guage go with the sale and kept the Incra V120. After doing some checking I found the V120 is not compatible as with the SS Miter Pro. Two options, buy back a SS Miter Guage or modify the V120 so it can be used with the Miter Pro.

Attached are a couple of photos of what I did. and in the process admit to a major mistake and how It was repaired. Had to make a 7/16" spacer so the Miter Pro would clear the V120. Drilled new holes and things were moving along pretty good and then realized I had relieved the new holes for the mounting screws on the wrong side of the Miter Pro. Tried filling the holes with Aluminum Epoxy and relieving the holes from the other side but the new plugs didn't hold. Now What?? Looked around the shop and found a piece of 7/16 Nylon just the right length, cut to size, drilled new holes and relieved them for the mounting bolts on the correct side this time. Proves again "Measure twice, relieve once"

Don, you are showing only part of the MiterPro. If you have the remaining parts and have no use for them please let me know. I do.

With regard to your modified V120 and Fence Extension, do you always use the Miter Gauge on the left side of the blade? I ask because in your photos you show an extension table to the right side. I often find that I need the support of an extension table when using a fence extension on the miter gauge.

Not so much anymore since I built the sled but still there are times.

When cutting miters with my MiterPro I often find that I need some assistance keeping the mitered ends where I want them. To resolve that I have a couple of these built with different angles cut in the wooden blocks.

James, give me a break, the guy I bought it from ran the saw through the fence, ;)

Dusty, when I took the picture I had not cut the 45 degree on the stop block yet. I had to make a new "L" bracket so the adjustment would work because of the 7/16" spacer.

I do have all the pieces that go with the Miter Pro I think, except the "Owner's Manual" Wish I had it but too cheap to order one from SS at $6.00 plus 10.00 shipping.

James here it is mounted on the left side of the blade. I still didn't run it through the saw blade!! It was that way when I got it. Obviously it should be in the right miter track if you where to use this set up. Apparently the previous owner didn't know that.
