Congratulations on your purchase! :)

Go to the wide red line at the top of this page and click on "SUPPORT". In the drop down menu, you will find "Serial numbers". If I'm correct, that will take you to the year 1981.

From there you can click on the blue text at the bottom of that page and find out more about your machine.

That'll hold you until others wirh more knowledge chime in/

Your serial number appears to be a date code. October 24 1989. You probably have a Mark V Model 510. A couple pictures posted here would help confirm that.

Thank you all for your help I phoned Shopsmith USA and they said it was made October 24, 1989. Dusty you were right but they also told me I have the the 520 upgrade package. Great deal at the auction for $250.00 and it works. I am going to check it over first before I get into using it. Thanks everyone for the replies

Yes, you made one very fine deal there. The cost to upgrade from the 510 that it originally was to the 520 that it is today is considerably more than $250. Congratulations.

Now all you have to do to be really set is clean, lubricate and align.

No one here will disagree with that!!!!

Since the Serial Number was a date code and I assume more than one has that date code, I am curious how the mother ship knew that yours had been upgraded from a 510 to a 520? Do you have the 'left over' 510 parts(rails/fence)?
