Blue Max Urethane Bandsaw Tires
It's time for me to change my the tires on my 30+ year old bandsaw. I have read the reviews on Shopsmith regarding its original equipment replacement tires and the reviews for its version of the urethane tires and found no one liked either one.
In doing some research I ran across Blue Max brand urethane tires which claim to fix Shopsmith bandsaws. There are two tires in the order along with an installation tool. It claims to have sold over 400 items, but when I searched the reviews I couldn't find anyone who had installed them on a Shopsmith. There is also a 60 day money back warranty, which Shopsmith doesn't offer.
So all this rambling is to find out if anyone out there has used these Blue Max urethane tires for their Shopsmith bandsaw.

I purchased the Blue Max SS tires because of Bill Mayo's recommendation. I have had no problem and I thought they were easy to install with the tool that came with the order. Can't remember the name of the guy but I believe he was on Ebay, I'm sure Bill will know. Good Luck
Re: Blue Max Urethane Bandsaw Tires
I highly recommend the Blue Max band saw tires. I have installed at least 12 sets of these Blue Max tires to where I can install a tire in around 1 minute using the enclosed tool. I do not glue these tires. No negative feedback for any of the installations.
From the Ebay listing:
Blue Max band saw tires are a trademark of the Band Saw Tire Warehouse and only available from us.
Made in the USA. LIFETIME WARRANTY!!!

Thanks for the feedback. My blades are not tracking as well as they should, and I will use the Blue Max tires to fix the problem.

In case you don't know, BS tires can effect tracking but the blade tracking on the SS BS is very different from other band Saws. So depending on the problem, simply putting on new tires may or may not fix your problem.

Hmmmm. 30 year bandsaw? You may want to check the upper wheel's needle bearings for possible play especially if they have not been lubricated for those 30 years.

Re: Blue Max Urethane Bandsaw Tires
John is very correct, the SS band saw is a whole different animal compared to the normal BS. I have 2 and the nephews, his a 1954 greenie BS with the original tires,I spent hours on them to set them up and bearing/blocks upgrades. You have to do this by instructions. If in doubt or confused or wonder why, ask here b4 proceeding. It has to be done in the order as in the manual, and some things need to go back to and a miner tweak.jsburger wrote:jmattsson wrote:Thanks for the feedback. They all run great, quiet, and track perfectly with the original tires, and taking off the table makes it a bit easier if you are able and mechanically inclined to get to the lower blocks, and bearing change.
I HIGHLY recommend this with the Cool blocks, I did it on all of the above, and they have the original tires on them.

Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them.
