You are right but does anyone think this is happening? We are faced with the highest unemployment. Find a US steel mill. At one time Cleveland Ohio had Three Major Steel mills today they have none. Bethlehem Steel had 9 major plants that included shipyards and rail car plants, In Johnstown Pa they employed 50,000 workers alone. Today Bethlehem Steel does not exist. Cleveland Ohio was filled with auto manufacturing plants. Today I think they are all pretty much gone. When you go into Detroit all you see is empty car plants, empty stores and empty homes. More kids with educations are living with their parents than ever before.dusty wrote:You have no way of knowing this. A foreign based company could very easily pay US citizens wages and benefits, use US resources to complete R&D projects and reinvest all potential profits.Ed in Tampa wrote:In a perfect world everything would be built in the USA by USA companies. However for a whole lot of reasons that I won't go into that is not the case. If there is a choice that would be my first choice. My second choice is made in out of country by USA companies. That way profits spendable income is in the USA. The worst scenario in my opinion is made outside the USA by an outside USA company but sold in the USA.
Being made In The USA by a outside USA company sounds good but all profit, all R&D money, all spendable income goes out of the USA.
What Shopsmith is doing has been forced on it but is the next to the best scenario of what could happen and far from the worst situation.
Look at our sea coast and you will see some of the world's largest cargo container ships coming from China into our ports. They unload and leave empty except with our cash!
Look at the freighters they aren't carrying finished products out this country, they are carrying our natural resources back to foreign ports.
Are prices going down as they should in such an economic environment? No!
Is savings interest increasing as they should in such an environment? No!
Is interest that being charged on loans coming down as should be in such an environment? No
Who benefits? The unemployed? No! The middle class? No! The politicians? YES! Our economy is being propped up artificially by the politicians so they can build cash reserves to get them through the crash.
The wolf is upon us it is time we wake up and say enough! Either that or learn to speak Mandarin because they pretty much hold all of our $20 trillion debt. Buy more foreign goods it is good for our economy, does anyone seriously believe that? If so I got this bridge.....
