Happened to be using mine today so I shot a picture of how I deal with the clamp on my 520 fence.

I would say it is one of a set:

Item #: 31373

Rigid aluminum body with steel threaded components.
Range of travel 1/2''-5-3/4''.
1/2'' minimum assumes a 3/4'' auxiliary fence; you can clamp to an even thinner primary fence if you use a thicker auxiliary fence.
Drill a 3/8'' hole in the auxiliary fence.

If your looking to buy these you might want to consider getting a Bessy corner clamp. It come wit two clamps that should work on the older fence. Unfortunately they do not open wide enough for a 520 fence.

That is good to know about the clamp position. I just purchased some popular wood to make a sacrificial fence for my 520. I had planned on using these same clamps (3/8" hole) to hold it on. I had not planned nor purchased a thin strip. Now I shall head back to the store!
