Shopsmith power station

Can the power station be used with the table top and saw guards to act as table saw or is only for spt's?
SS 500 upgraded to 510; SS bandsaw; SS jointer
SS Oscillating Drum Sander; Universal Lathe Rest;
lathe duplicatior, shaper fence and shapers; SS Belt

If you develop (or purchase) a method to mount the table to the Power Station - yes, it can be used as a table saw. It makes a neat little work station. Sorta under powered but servicable.

Here is the bracket that makes this possible on the Crafters Station.

Dusty did not mention that the crafter's station also has a reversible motor and dual power switches(one on the front, one on the back[motor runs backward]). The saw is operated from the back.

The direct answer to the question is no, however the crafter's station has 'extras' that makes it possible.

The direct answer is "YES" with some special considerations.

The motor that is in the Power Station is reversible but there is no wiring to support a switch that would needed to do that the way the Crafters Station does it.

If the object was to use the Power Station as a table saw one could simply mount the table properly and use the motor the way it is (ie, reverse the table to match direction of rotation).

OR

the wires in the motor could simply be reversed manually and the motor is now reversed for table saw operation..

In other words: yes, but significant additional parts and modifications needed!

Try mounting the table 'reversed'! Notice the blade slot location.;)

I assumed the question was asked relative to no or minimal alterations.:)

As much as I love my SS's, and am a big fan of SS in general, I really think I'd just buy a cheap tablesaw at a home center or used off craigslist, want ads, etc. before I went to that much trouble to build one. Maybe I'm just lazy. That might be it, 'cause I should be out in the shop aligning my new-to-me 510.

Hermit of the Hills Woodworks, a hillbilly in the foothills of the Ozarks, scraping by.

Indeed! One has to wonder where all those 'saw' parts would come from.

Was this part that holds the table sold by Shopsmith? Or what/where did come from?

It was a purchase part from Shopsmith. The Crafters Station was sold for only a very short period of time.

The part number was 518501.
