Re: Riving knife
Both the SS riving knife and the Shark Guard attach to the lower saw guard like the SS upper saw guard and splitter. The Shark Guard allows the upper plastic saw guard to be disconnected from the splitter and pawls, the pawls can remain on the splitter or be removed like the plastic saw guard allowing it to be used for non-through cuts. I like the Shark Guard because it allows the splitter and pawls to be used when the fence is too close for the saw guard to be used. The SS riving knife does not have or allow the use of pawls to help prevent kickback. The Shark Guard web site used to have product pictures to visualize how it works now you have to watch the videos.

Re: Riving knife
Absolutely correct Brenda. I had a very small input to the original version of the SS Shark Guard. I have one of the first ones he ever made for the SS. That was back in 2008. Things have changed a lot since then. I have one for my Powermatic 2000 and you can remove the guard and use it for non through cuts. I assume the SS version is the same now but I have not checked.thunderbirdbat wrote:Both the SS riving knife and the Shark Guard attach to the lower saw guard like the SS upper saw guard and splitter.
