ADVISE NEEDED ON MAKING WOOD HINGES

Post by woodmeister »

Just purchased a Incra I- box jig and a Incra hinge crafter. Upon further investigation I see I need (instructions info) an Incra fence or miter.
My question is can I use the hinge crafter with my box joint maker?? I would like the Incra fancy set up but is costly and takes up a lot or room.
Thanks
Tom

I've not tried it but I would think it could/would work. The hinge jig limits you to only a few sizes for pins but so long as you set the box jig to make those various sizes it should work.

Well I should say that I have not studied the details but have both items so I'm at least somewhat familiar with them. Who you want to talk to would be Mark at Incra (if he is still there) he would know if there are any got-yea's.

Should work. Just make the dado blade thickness the size needed for the hinges. The spacing on the hingecrafter will set that dimentiin. You'll still need to round everything over and get the desired shape of the hinge.
