I'm working from my iPad. Maybe I'd have better luck with the laptop???

Unrelated I'm sure but all of sudden I'm getting Tapatalk messages again when some one responds to my posts here. Odd since I got tired of it and turn all of the settings to off(unchecked) but when I went back they were all turned back on (checked).

Hmmmmmm

I have not changed this setting. I've gotten messages before so it has worked but I don't know when things changed.

I just sent myself a message so I'll see if it is really true or not. If I see no email announcement then it is truly set to no and I can't change it. If on the other hand the message does come then the board has just not responded correctly.

Either way it is not just one person seeing this. It is likely others will find they have the same issue if they check.

Just for reference I can not turn on the "pop up on pm" either. Other settings seem to work.

I'm using the shopsmith board style if that helps.

Using firefox 50.0.2 on a freshly built windows10 machine.

Be careful of updates!! I updated one of my programs, may have been AVG security and my computer would not access my home network. Message said the I was locked out of the system ( could not connect) but the settings said I was connected. I used system restore to set things back to two days earlier and the computer works OK now. Try to read the return addresses of ALL notifications for updates before tapping the YES button. I did receive an update alert from AVG which contained a return address that I did not recognize. I ignored it. I often receive E-Mails from my son and DIL that contain return E-Mail addresses that are clearly not theirs. Those also get deleted.

I never did get an email so the setting is set to no and it is indeed not sending emails.

I used my tablet to try and change the settings in question. Nope, that did not work either. Tried my phone, nope. So I'll try my other PC but I have little hope of it working.

So I have to wonder is any ones working? Go and send yourself a PM and see if you get an email notification. Yes this only applies if you have it turned on.

No go on another of my PC's.

I've also tried Microsoft Edge and Chrome and that did not help.

At this point the finger has to point towards a board issue.

Is the issue that you are not getting notified at a third-party email address (gmail for instance) or that when you are on the Board, the you are getting a "Private messages (0)" indication when it should read "Private messages (5)" or some such thing?

I checked my preferences and it is set to "no" on notify of private messages because I don't want to get an email. When I send myself one, it shows up as "Private messages (1)".
