Thanks for responding. The issue is that at least two of us can not turn on the email notification. I normally have that set to have the board send me a message if some one PM's me. It has worked in the past.

Now because of this post I went and checked to see my settings and found that the setting had changed without me changing it to no. I tried to turn it back on and found it says it makes the change but does not. The same thing happens with the pop up notification which I don't have on but if I try it says it changes it, but again it does not.

You still get the notification on the web page but I've found that several times I miss that for days...... then when I noticed it would/could be days old and it was not because I ignored it but just missed it. So that is why I turned on the email notification. I check email maybe a dozen times a day so I find the notification a help.

If you would mind, try turning email notification and see if it will change, my guess is that it will not. If it does then feel free to turn it back off but please post here that it worked for you.

I checked my preferences and it is set to "no" on notify of private messages because I don't want to get an email. When I send myself one, it shows up as "Private messages (1)".

I did as you requested. It switched back to "no" and did not send me an email when I tested it. I'm using Shopsmith style.

So that is now 3 users with this issue. I expect more are but just don't know it.

Thanks,

It's the email that I'm not getting. I don't always check this forum daily so I like to know if someone has PM'd me. I do have "email" checked for PM's in notification options.
I do get the in forum notice of PM's (1), etc.

I sent myself two PM's today as tests. They showed up at the top of the forum ( Private messages [1]) but I did not get emails.

I use the subsilver2 board style. I can select/unselect notification options and they do take, but it appears the email notifications are not sent, (I did check my Spam folder, not there either.)

A while ago there was a setting I wanted to change (can't remember what it was  ) and it wasn't shown as an option in subsilver2. Setting the board style to shopsmith allowed me to make the change.

For what it's worth, I and getting notification - maybe because I'm a newer user?

Good point on the board type. I went and changed mine to the prosilver. It was already turned on that board type. Went back to my favorite and it was turned off and would not turn back on.

From this it looks like it might be related to the board type that is selected.

What board type do you have selected?

I have sent you a test PM. Let us know if you get an email notification, or not.

I have had this same problem for several months. I try to change my notification to yes and it just reverts back to no.
