Christmas Email from the Mother Ship

Post by ERLover »

I just got a Christmas Email from the MS. In it they say this about the relationship with Wood Craft. Can I interpret that they will be selling SS stuff at the WC stores?
" but in addition, we now have a New National Partnership with Woodcraft and we will be selling in most of their locations!"

Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them. :)

It says that, but, does not say in detail what. Most likely Mark V/7 units and maybe SPTs. I doubt the full range will be available, but we can hope for that(saves shipping).

I "really" miss the old factory store...
I used to visit a number of friends in Central Ohio and attended antique tractor events there. I live just southeast of Indy and it was easy to drop off of I-70 at Dayton and drop in the store.
There were always other folks there and between them and the store staff a lot of Shopsmith talk took place. I also liked the otherwise unannounced deals on a lot of limited number items.
Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do in order to survive but I always kind of felt that SS may have underestimated the PR value of that factory store.
Now those were the "good old days". :)

I've never been to the "factory store" so I can't say I miss it. But I do miss the Traveling Academy sessions.

I bought most of the Shopsmith equipment that I have in one big bundle while I was working and living in Plano, Tx. At that time there was a Woodcraft (in I believe Richardson) nearby that I ordered from. Actually, I bought it all at the Texas State Fair in Dallas and took delivery at the Woodcraft Store. Maybe this is what is going to be happening again.

Questions asked at my local Woodcraft here in Tucson got me NO straight answers and I was speaking with the franchise owner. Sorta strange.
