1960's Mark VII Owners Manual is Complete

Shopsmith Mark VII Restoration and Enhancement of Owners Guide and Parts Manual is complete.

I owe an incredible thanks to James Grange Sr. (JPG) for his tireless assistance to me in collecting and editing the manual as I rewrote and restored it.

There is new material, new illustrations, and modified illustrations including wiring for all three known motor models that were produced for this machine in the 1960’s.

Once you download it to your computer and open it as an Adobe PDF file:

The Table of Contents becomes Active so you can click and go directly the page it appears.

The PDF document is fully word searchable. Open a search dialog and try searching for Miter for example.

For those of us who trombone the text to read at times, it is also Zoom-able, so you can zoom into the text, photos or drawings for more clarity.

It took me a good bit of time, but I am pleased with the results. I hope you are.

I don't have a Mark VII but I have one very impressive manual for one. So impressive it makes me think that maybe I erred a few months ago when I walked away from a garage sale where they had one for sale. There were few accessories and the $600 price tag turned me away.

Congratulations Everett on a job very well done. You too, JPG as I understand you also had a hand in this creation.

Yes it is impressive, but considering past endeavors, I would expect nothing less.

As for my 'involvement' it consisted of scanning original manuals and carefully scrutinizing the first pass. There were few things that that scrutiny revealed.

Everett did all the work!

A caveat for those wanting to print the manual.

Choose fit to page when printing the parts manual section.

The exploded views and motor diagrams will then print correctly.

"actual size" does not handle these well.(at least with my printer SW)

The actual size will only work if your printer has 11 x 17 capability which is the size I re-worked the parts illustrations in.

You can print just those pages at Kinko's if you want, but as JPG indicates, fit to page is the best way to make it print on all printers. It will shrink the larger pages to 8.5 x 11.

I did find one error that is on page 25 "MARK VH vacuum hose (Fig. 47)" should read MARK VII.... I proof mis-read it as VH for Vacuum Hose, missing the fact they spelled it out also.
