Jointing with the track saw

I had to pick up some 5/4 alder and all they had was in the rough. Even with a good jointer it is hard to get straight edges on boards 8' and longer. The track saw is a great way to straighten them.

Since the board width was under 6" I had to tack on some cleats for clamping

Yes track saws very good at getting straight edges.

I haven't cut much real wood with it but I know that on plywood that is "to narrow" that I can just stack the wood edge to edge and so long as both strips are making contact I have no need to clamp them. The strips hold the pieces together and in place. Most sawing can be done without clamps, routing is another story.
