But I am now, even with some great help here, I raised my hand here with mom.
Her mind is a still sharp for going on 97, but her internal organs are failing based on Lab reports, sis and bro are out of state, and I have been here for a year and a half +. It was easy when mom could take care of alot of her daily functions and with help here.
More meds for more things, more she ant do for herself, which works for me when my scheduled help is here, but they are not, a real burden on me. She has been in a pain cycle for about the last 10 days a 9ish till the Vikaden kicks in a few hours later, I feel so frustrated and helpless seeing her in that pain.
Actually, talked to my sis tonight, about this, sometimes I just wished mom would snooze off in the afternoon or at night, and just would drift off to see St Peter at the Gate to Heaven. Not for me but for her.
Thanks for the listening/vent. I know some here had the same and worse.

Re: I am never been a Quiter!!
Hang in there. It's diffiult when family is scattered around the country. They want to help, but can't be there for you. Hopefully they are there in spirit. My 90 year old mom broke her ankle January 30th. A life chaning event when you are 90. Required placing her in rehab, but in reality the game is over. She was living alone and doing well, but all that has changed. I doubt she will even be a candidate for assisted living. We all take care of our parents as best we can for as long as we can. Take it one day at a time...

Re: I am never been a Quiter!!
I feel your pain. My wife is having real problems with her MS and she had a serious heart attack on October 31, 2016. It has been touch and go, but she seems to be doing well right now. She is having problems remembering, processing and communicating which is frustrating for me. I am one who develops a plan of flow and then tweak as I go. She cannot do that. But, even in her situation, I don't really want her to go. I just know that it is going to happen and I am not prepared. Don't know how and not going to try. LOL But, my mother got to be like yours and one day she was rushed to the hospital from the nursing home. She didn't see the sunset that day and that was in 2001. I still miss her. As Chris said, we do all we can to help our loved ones. Blessings to you as your struggle through this turbulence. You will come out the winner.

When we are that close it is hard, even though we know in are logical thinking but the emotions get in the way. I guess that is why we are humane and sensitive people. Sorry for your hardships, God never puts more on anyone then he knows they can handle.swampgator wrote:I feel your pain. Re: I am never been a Quiter!!
Thinking today about those here today and their family members. It is hard sometimes to be the adult, not the child. Spent 15 hours with mom at our local hospital's emergency room. Things have somewhat "stabilized", but not really improved. My local hospital had zero ICU beds available, and is affiliated with Yale and two other hospitals. Same story, no beds. Finally one became available, meaning only one of two things happened, only one of them good.
Tomorrow is another day......
