main table height and misc

spent some time today and got the main table cleaned and lubed up and it works well, but im not sure if this is normal or i put it back together incorrectly


when you loosen the lock and go to move up or down it goes down real real well " if you dont support it, it will slam down fast " and it cranks up easy.

also in discovering im missing a few parts, is there a place here for wts/wtb or just ebay, CL and the mothersmith ??

When you 'loosen' the lock, one needs to hold the lever so as to prevent that rapid descent. Tis typical. It you need your hand elsewhere, the lock can be almost totally loosened so there will be a slight drag preventing free fall.

What parts are you 'missing'?

cool thats the way this one operates now.

im missing the miter gauge, telescoping legs and turnbuckles, and the lathe chuck, so far.

i know i can get them online, i was just wondering if the forum had a wtb/wts section or not.

with the house remodel i wont need anything real fast, we are also converting the single car into the shop so i have time. Wife has been doing the patching and primer paint, she allows me to cut the new trim and nail it up, and hand her tools and beer

and i will say that just cleaning and learning the machine has been a good time.

i work nights and it been kinda peaceful sitting out in the garage at 0400 tinkering, nice and cool, and taking the slow route

OH! The Do-hicky that mounts on the end of the telescoping tube.

That do-hicky is a 3/4" pipe railing fitting.

When you refer to a lathe chuck, are you meaning a spur drive, or something fancier(not standard equipment).

book calls it the drive center, the tailstock has the cup center in it, and ill probably invest in the lathe stuff pretty quick,

and i figured ebay, cl and shopsmith have everything ill acquire slowly, just figured id check here first, simple assuming that the folks here have a great chance of taking better care of their stuff.

IIWM, I would skip the standard tail stock center and get the live center one.

I started to order a new carriage stop ring as I upgraded my shorty to a 520 table and will on rare occasions use it as a table saw when the power pro is tied up and I am too lazy to switch operations... $2.99. I am waiting on it as I don't at this time need or wish for anything else. I must need something!!!
