Source for shims/shim stock

Post by Sazerac81 »

Does anybody have a good source for shims of various sizes or good source for shim stock?

I feel like I always have something I need to shim to just the right height. :)

Cheers,
John

Ed, this is for shimming tables by about 10-50 thousandths of an inch.

I am looking for metal stock to do this with vs. wood which compresses a bit more.

Maybe use paper?

Do a Google search on brass shim stock. Looks like Lee Valley has it in small quantities at a reasonable price. There are probably others.

Amazon delivers again! It's hard to get away from them when they offer that same day delivery. They offer the brass as well, but I thought I might as well go with steel, a bit cheaper and same tolerances.

McMaster sells shim-stock assortments in a variety of materials, but they are a bit pricier than the Amazon offering.

Also shim washers, etc.
