You can see the cut out for the knife.
I use zero clearance inserts for every thing , regardless , if you are worried about the saw blade ,, I am sure you are aware it should only extend above the stock no more than the depth of the gullet .

It is good to have more then one , when cutting a steep angle you will notice the difference ,,,,,,,between a straight insert and one set for the angles ,,,also,,,,, the deeper the cut,,,,, the longer the slot in the insert.
I use 7.5 inch blades when cutting steep angles so the slot isn't so long.
