Help ID Shopsmith Model / Year
Been a while since I was here. My last thread was about the 50th Anniversary MK. V that I scored off Craigslist a year and a half ago.
Today I picked up another Shopsmith from someone on Craigslist. Want to dedicate one to being a lathe (and have a backup headstock).
Definitely an older model than my other one. Got some good pics. Can you folks help me identify which MK. V model this is, and perhaps a year of manufacture?
I notice the accessory port on the left side is different than the one on my 50th.

On that last pic, the serial number plate: My 50th says "Use this high speed shaft for Jointer and Scroll Saw Only."
However, this "new" one I just picked up (older year) says "Use this high speed shaft for Jointer and Sprayer Only."
Sprayer???

The Greatness officially starts
Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them.

Re: Help ID Shopsmith Model / Year
So my SS of 2916 would put it somewhere between 1973 and 1978?

That's what it appears. 1973-74 based on the lower serial number I suspect.

So...what is the "Sprayer" the SS plate mentions, instead of a Jig Saw?
Also...what is the name of the ring-like chuck thingy that goes over the spindle on the two left spindles? That allows you to use the plastic spacer bar (for lack of a better term) to power accessories? And are they two different sizes? Looks like it on my 50th.

Oh, also...something I just noticed while fooling with it.
The speed dial "plate" with the knob...is a bit loose /wobbly. Anything I can easily do to stabilize that up?

There WERE two different air compressors available that were driven of the lower high speed shaft.
There WAS a jig saw as well as the current scroll saw.
The knob has a set screw(3/32 allen) that is accessed through a hole in the side of the knob.
