Or just put it off and pay more later.

Expensive tool month. I had allocated $1500 for several Festool items, just placed the order for $1502.50. I'll have to make up for the extra $2.50 at a later date.

Saved $20 by buying before the price increase and other $67.50 with the pkg deal. This amounts to about 6% savings and kept me to my budget pretty well.

I already have two more Festool things on next years potential budget, but likely only one will make it to the finals. But then there is the year after that.....

Alright. I'm taking the plunge. But looking for advice. Those who are in the know, which Festool track saw do you recommend TS 75 or 55? And what rails and connectors are need to rip an 8' sheet of plywood?

I have also been looking at the different track saws. The thing that has me waiting is trying to find out more information on the new HK 55. It appears to be more along the line of a circular saw but uses the same track system as the TS's at about a $100 cheaper price. From what I have seen of the Festools so far, my choice is the TS 55 but I also have a bad wrist that the heavier TS 75 would aggravate and I do not need the extra cut depth. There is only one place locally that carries Festool and they had no information other than an advertisement display stating that the HK 55 is new. Since price is actually one of my main concerns, I would prefer the Festool but may have to settle for a different system due to cost. But if the HK 55 is actually a cheaper option of a track saw, it makes it closer to the cost of the other brands of track saws making it the preferred option.

I too look real hard at the new (and it is new) HK 55. My reasons for getting the TS 55:

"Only" a $100 more.
It is NOT billed as a carpentry saw.
The saw blade that comes with it is NOT a fine tooth blade, a new fine tooth costs $78.

I went with the TS 55 & am very happy!

The short of it is was I got the smaller saw due to money, size, weight all factored in.

If you have the room then get the longer track, forget the size 113" or such. If you go the route I went then make sure you read about the additional things you should buy to get two smaller tracks to work well together.

There is a festool guy at my local woodcraft store who I had spoken to several times in my decision process. He had mentioned the longer rails but I have an issue of having a place to store that long of a rail but he was right, it would have been better. He also said to get the leg supports for the MFT, they were out of stock when I got the table but I soon found that I wanted them, by then they were back in stock so it all worked out.

As I mentioned, if you think you would like either the dust collector or the MFT then you can save some money by buying the package deal. I think both are worth it but I went with the MFT first and am just now adding the dust collector.

Don't for get that there is a nice list of extras you will soon want so make sure you don't spend all your money up front because some of them will need to be purchased soon after you start using the tools.

Good for you!

I'm not sure why but once you start using and learning more about their tools the more you want. I had the same problem with shopsmith tools but have run out of things I want from them now..... well I could use a third powerpro but maybe next year.

I can see me spending another $5000 in the next two to three years for more of their tools.
