Yes one pass worked on this small molding. It is only 5/8 x 9/16.Dccarpenter wrote:Thanks for posting the photos.

It takes 3 passes on 3 1/2" crown molding. One for the back cut and 2 passes on the face. Some molding patterns require relief cuts with a dado blade before running through the molder.

What size motor are you running on it? I have an older 8" Belsaw (the one that looks like a woodmaster) ,it is 110v 1.5 hp right now I am planning to go 230v 3hp in the hopes of one passing small to medium sizs stuff.

I think it is 2HP. Its the original motor and I've had it for 25 years. A larger motor would just destroy the gearbox on mine so I just try not to overload it.

The Greatness officially starts
Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them.

Now there's an interesting concept. Are you telling me that I could skip the finishing step on custom furniture, and outsource it to a pro? No doubt they could do a better job than I can. How would I go about finding a good one?mbcabinetmaker wrote:P1110530 (1024x768).jpg

Check with some of you local cabinet shops. Some do their own finishing and would be willing to take on extra finishing jobs. In my town we have about 3 or 4 shops that only do cabinet finishing. The one that I use I also do a good bit of work for building sample boxes and displays so it works out great for me. I also do a lot of piece work for a larger shop that does their own finishing and installing. That also works out great for me. Pushing the big 60 I'm trying to get out of installing all together. Carrying cabinets up 2 flights of stairs isn't as much fun as it used to be.
