Who is going to the Shopsmith sale

Dick, is the Universal lathe tool rest you got an old version? I was told yesterday that the Universal lathe tool rest I ordered Monday was on back order until Dec 1.

It probably is but for $40 I don't think Blaine will complain. On looking in the 2008 catalog it looks almost identical to the one pictured.

OK, here goes. First I just slid into 4 figures. Universal lathe tool rest, 5 SPT storage mounts, strip sander, belt sander, DC3300 w/42" filter and hoses and wands, 2 ea. 24" & 36" wood parallel veneer clamps, 4 ea 24" & 36" jorgenson bar clamps, 4 4" c-clamps, 3 or 4 sets of 520 aux table rails,1 or 2 sets of 520 main table rails, Incra miter express (NIB), Incra miter gauge new, 3 pc set of under Mark V storage cabinets, 2 utility lites, a couple of slip stones (1 oil & 1 arkansaw, sp), 4 upolstered folding chairs, SS grinder attachment, PC router edge guide. There may be a few other items, but this is the bulk of it. I just got home and haven't unloaded yet. A few of the items are for ryanbp01? since he had to teach school today. Filled the bed and back seat of my F350 crewcab dually. Just remembered 2 27" tubes and 2 telescoping legs with joints. Now are you happy, Ed. IT was only 270 miles round trip.

I believe I am the one who helped you load your items. We had trouble with the sawdust blowing everywhere.

Quick impressions:

We arrived around 1:30pm so quite a few things were already picked up. They still have quite a lot of logo-type gear on hand like hats, buttons, demo stuff and the like.

NIB castor wheels for a Sawsmith $40 but they would have to be narrowed to fit a Power Station or Mark V. NIB Joint=Matic $240. Looks like they still have some jig saws in their original boxes on hand. Lots of office equipment, furniture, hand tools, notebooks, and other garage sale quality stuff. Best deals on the office side but what fun is that?

There was a good number of helpful, long time employees on hand to help. I had them each assure me that this was down-sizing, not a liquidation sale.

My best hope for those who can't make it is that this once-in-
a-lifetime sale will be repeated. It's worth the drive.

There is quite a bit left. Most of the remaining items will be marked down even further for the last day of the sale. It runs from 9am til 12:00 tomorrow. I plan to buy a few things myself.

It's a shame that this sale wasn't advertised on the web site and thru email. Some of us would have been willing to drive the necessary miles to Dayton. I'd have to leave now (9:15 PM, 10/17) and drive all night to get there before the sale closed.

Question; Is Shopsmith liquidating the classroom 520's and SPT's?

I really appreciated all the help of the Shopsmith employees. Thank you.

For the first ten miles I had a cloud following me up I-75, then clear for the remaining 125 mi. Got home and lifted the DC3300 upright to unload and another 1/2 gal of sawdust came out. What a mess.

No mark Vs for sale, also no jointers & bandsaws. It seemed that nothing from the academy was for sale except a few DC3300, clamps and misc. hand tools. I did get a strip sander and a belt sander. They did have a couple of scroll saws and mark V mount planers (prices reflected age and condition). These statements reflect what I saw, but I was also flitting around like a moth around a flame.
