Who is going to the Shopsmith sale

Emails were only sent to Ohio and surrounding areas. There are some good deals, but they may not justify travelling a lengthy distance. Shopsmith is just trying to get rid of some excess items that are no longer needed.

No, there are no MARK V's in the sale. The only thing that was taken out of the Classroom for the sale is Dust Collectors and some other misc. items as Dick described.

I attended the Shopsmith sale last Saturday (along with spouse) and I was quite impressed with what I saw. I will admit to being extremely concerned about Shopsmith's future after reading the posts on this forum. It laid a lot of fears to rest I had considering the future of Shopsmith. I was able to speak to Mr. Folkerth and I was assured that Shopsmith is NOT going out of business, but they were just having a "garage sale" to get rid of items that were either in surplus or they no longer wanted and to become more efficient in their operation. After all, how many of us have had garage sales to get rid of unwanted items? It is my opinion, based upon what I saw, that Shopsmith will be around for years to come and that the the peoples who have posted that the company is going out of business will be proven dead wrong. BTW, Mr. Folkerth and all of the folks that ran the sale were extremely friendly and helpful in person, just as they are on the phone. I really expect great things to come and that Shopsmith will emerge as a leaner, more competitive company as a result of their actions.

To reiterate what ryanbp01 said Shopsmith was housecleaning. Going around and cleaning out all the cabinets of items not in use any more. The belt sander I got had marked on it "hold for John" and had never been out of the box. The strip sander had been lightly use in the past and had written in sharpie on the inside of the front cover "serial # 10/4/88, property of engineering, production unit #1". So I believe they were just getting rid of the loose odds and ends to make room and become more of a "lean, mean, fighting machine".

Just kinda interested how much did you have to give for the sanders?

Your comments are some of the most useful I have ever read in this forum. Nothing beats looking the company execs and employees in the eye, as you had the opportunity to do. The rest of us only have words on a computer screen to go by.

I gave $80 for the strip sander and $150 for the belt sander. There was no sales tax or shipping charge.

Sounds like you got a good buy. Wish I was able to go.

I was through Ft Wayne back in July. Found the Woodcraft store but it just had closed:( Had to kill time in the dollar store next door.

I am glad to hear about the comments at the SS sale, I for one hope SS stays around for may grandsons to be able to get new items and parts for the SS's I will leave them. I am only 15 years into SS and am really looking forward to many more before I have to give it up.
Planning on adding more to my garage in the way of add ons.
So thanks for the letting us know how it is going and looked.
