I want to share some of my recently completed projects, but please feel free to share yours. We like pictures so here goes. First postings are of my deceased neighbors deck. An neighbor on the other side joined in with me and we knocked this out in about 12 hours. First picture of how it looked when he expired. Since I don't know how to comment between pictures, I'll just say here are the joined benches. The arm and spindle I made from a piece of scrap of pressure treated wood he had tossed.

This post will take more space since I am going to show the process that I took to make the coal tender. First, I will show the steam engine made from their first discarded Christmas tree. The story is: a neighbor across the street was having heart problems and his wife was about to deliver their first child, a son. After weeks in the local hospital and a trip to Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH, it was determined that the young man has Sarcoidosis. Anyway, I did not know for months what was wrong, but I feared the baby would not have a dad. So, when they tossed their Douglas Fir tree to the curb, I took it, trimmed off the branches and saved the bigger part of the trunk. I do not have pictures with the pull string (parachute cord) and wheels. But, you get the idea from the two pictures of glue up.

Several posts to get all the pictures of the process. First picture is of the discarded Christmas tree on the bandsaw being cut into lengths. Little comment from here.

The completed coal tender. The magnets are rare earth with a center hole attached to the carriage with a chair nail head. You must ensure that they poles of the magnets are lined in a way to ensure connectivity.

Looks like you have the SS sawmill down pat!!

You can also make a sled ,attach the log to , it will help keep it from moving around while you are cutting ,,,the cuts will be easier to keep straight.

I need to make one myself.
