I have actually seen a house like that, well sort of. The lower half was an airplane hanger! I have pictures somewhere. The guy hosted a car show at his place(my bother and I attended), private air field and had the lower floor open to visit. Whole shop in there and still room for planes. Would loved to have seen the upstairs but that was out of bounds. (BTW this was their summer place. Not sure what he did or she did but they must have been well off.)

My wife got involved. Need I say more. She felt that I was jumping the gun on return to physical therapy. The doctors had originally told me restricted activity for a month. I had the surgery on the 24th. So the 17th will mark three weeks. She made a couple telephone calls and - you guessed it. I start back in therapy on May the 2nd. That's 40 days after surgery. That's a delay of almost two weeks. I'm bummed.

Now my task has changed just a little bit. Back into the shop and back into physical therapy are (in my mind) two different unrelated events.

Hang in there Dusty. That time will also pass.
Just remember, she can't stop you from doing shop work in your head. I do a lot of things in my head that Diana wouldn't approve of.
I do some of my best projects in my head and when I do them in my head they always come out perfect.
You wouldn't believe how good my shop looks as I plan in my head.

I was not always as well behaved as I should have been (2013 bypass) but I was pretty careful about not doing anything that "I" felt would hurt me. After the quad bypass I was in ICU overnight and then recovery about 5 days. The middle of the next week I was out trudging through about 6" to 8" of snow repairing electric fences for the horses. I was careful about never going out alone and I did let Diana do the pulling on the wire and I just did the tying off. They wanted me to do physical therapy but I declined. I told them that I had 100 acres of physical therapy... We had / have a good tread-mill and a recumbent exercise bike along with light weights. I was careful about hugging my special pillow when I coughed or sneezed and most regular warnings. I did tell them that I had been using this body for some time and was kind of familiar with it.
I have always been kind of stubborn and was always told as a kid that it was from my Barlow ancestor line. Some of them were industrial strength stubborn...

Thanks, francis. You do make me feel a little bit better about all of this. I get frustrated by being told I "can't do that" like I did not know. At any rate, I got the go ahead from everyone, including by better half (SWMBO), that I can start therapy sessions on May 2.

In the mean time, I get out there a few times a day for a few minutes and move things around, trying to sort what is to be discarded and what gets moved to the new house and what gets put in storage. I've posted a couple pictures of the mess I have created for myself.

I thought that I was making great progress until I began gathering like items up for packing. If the need arises, I want to be able to get to certain tools, parts, etc., so boxing similar items seemed like a good approach.

Wow When I began emptying drawers, pulling items down off the wall and the like - I very quickly created an unbelievable stack of items to deal with.

Do you have any idea how much a box full of screw drivers, nut drivers, etc. weights. Same goes for allen wrenches, clamps (c-clamps), spring clamps, etc. It wasn't long into this task that I realized that I am really pushing my doctors prescribed weigh limits big time.

I'm anxious but I do want to live through this ordeal.
