Electrician Knife

Post by db5 »

Saw this on Craigslist today. I suppose it is used for stabbing competing candidates in the back. :)

I was issued one of those when I was in the Navy back in 1965.

As a storekeeper/logistics agent in the Navy in 1968 - 1972, I purchased many of these knives. You had one blade for cutting and the other blade locked with a spring clip and you could use it as a quick screwdriver to pop open or close the zeus fasteners that held the airplane avionics bays closed. We had one young man who was buttoning up a panel one day with one of these knives and he forgot to close the cutting blade.
The screwdriver blade collapsed because he did not have it locked and it almost cut off his 4 fingers. He was a radar tech. I hope he got to continue to use his hand. I think I shipped out about that time to come to Pensacola. Yes, I immediately recognized this knife as I issued many of them. They were about 15 cents each in those years.
