Thanks, Steve. Is replacing the pulley as simple as removing a key, and replacing with another pulley? You have just regenerated my interest in the 10ER. I would like to reduce it to about 500 rpm, give or take, and leave the top end speed available.skou wrote:Dan, there is no "speed reducer" for

Which is lower and higher than the three speeds (850, 1725 and 3450) of the stock 3 step pulley set. Plus you get everything in between.JPG wrote:A speed changer will get you a range of 425 to 6800 rpm.

Also, how easy is it to replace the quil bearing if necessary?
One more question. Will the lathe tool rest and the tail stock from a MKV 500 fit it?
motor on one of his (formerly my) Model 10s.
Yes, the motors mount, mounting base up.
ANY 56 frame motor will fit, except for the
capacitor. My solution, raise the whole
machine. Since the weakest mode of the
Model 10 (or any Shopsmith) is the table saw,
raise the whole rig, and get a decent table saw.
Oh, (and this might upset a few of the "Aluminium"
fans) the Model 10 is the best at lathe and both
versions of drill-press.
And, the model 10 is the WORST to put in vertical
drill-press mode. Something about all that Cast
Iron.
