While unconventional this project was a 100% solution. Not one chipmunk buried anything in any of the containers with the golf balls in them.

I'm going to do more this year. We are changing things around and going to a plastic planter on the steps and moving the metal ones to a new area in the front lawn.

The plastic planter have rocks which worked well but they, the chipmunks, would still dig the rocks out and sometimes up and over the planter to be able to plant things. Now with golf balls I think they will have to find other places to store things.

Weeks behind on gardening this year. Maybe we will just skip it for this year. Or just do a very limited planting of vegetables. With my spring back issues everything is backed up and even now I have to limit my time digging and other intense back related activities. I don't even have the garden boxes dug up or the rain barrels setup. Oh well that how it goes some years.

You do have a tendency to overly "man 'splain", Lucy.

To an audience that to the best of my observation is mostly MALE!

Just a thought...

Those videos give a whole new meaning to 'flying squirrels'! :D

They do not appear to be harmed by the landings.
