The Festool Roadshow, is it worth attending?

Post by reible »

Local Woodcraft is having the The Festool Roadshow truck stopping by. I've never been to one so I'm wondering if it is worth the trip. My biggest fear is finding a bunch more things I "need". I already have my next two years of festool budget filled in.........

Today was my day to attend. Got a really nice free hat, one of those can wraps and a new catalog. I also got to check out a lot of there tools and watch some individual type demos.

I don't do enough edge banding to make it even close to need or ever wanting their system but wow it really works like a dream. The smaller router with attachment trips it and just a couple of light strokes with a hand sander and you are done!

I wanted one of the Kapex saws before and now after watching it cut and collect the dust..... well it is already on next years tool budget. I'll have to part with the three other ones I have but that's OK as I never use more then one at a time anyway.

Checked out the sanders and I'm glad I did as the one I thought I was going to get doesn't fit my hand well. Better to find out now then later.

Then after checking things out the Woodcraft store had a free lunch, well a hot dog and chips and a drink.

A LOT of people there and buying things too. (Makes a shopsmith demo look like they are not happening.) The store must have expected to sell a lot too as they had stacks of boxes of tools ready to be picked up and taken home. Way more then they normally stock. I don't know if that is part of the truck or if the store gets extra inventory just for this event.

The postcard made the truck look black, it really blue.

The sides fold out to become stages and you get on board to see the different stations they have set up. I'm not sure I'll go again but it was worth it this trip if for nothing more then the hat.
