Missing 3/4 spacer on Dado arbor

Post by dynabase »

I lost the 3/4 inch spacer on my Dado arbor. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement short of buying a new complete arbor? I contacted Shopsmith but have not heard back yet.

The Dado arbor is 5/8" so the hole in the spacer is 5/8".

Are you sure that it is a 3/4" spacer? I have two sets and neither one of them has a spacer that wide.

It is 5/8" on the current arbor. There were 3/4" spacers on some (all?) 10ER arbors of the same basic design.

You might not have lost the spacer. Recently I went through my Shopsmith parts and found a similar arbor that had no spacer. I don't know if it ever had one. This is the post about it.

A. Piece of any hardwood could easily be any size spacer that you need.

It is 5/8" on all the ones I have including 10ER.
Are you referring to the thickness of the "spacer" or the bore. The bore is 5/8" on all of mine too. I have several that are a variety of thicknesses.

What removes the wood from the dado groove when you do that?

Yes the bores and shaft diameter is 5/8" on all the arbors. In that post I was referring to the thickness. However, I misspoke. The current washer is 5/8" thick. There were/are 10ER arbors with 3/4" thick washers. I have corrected the incorrect post.
