Per Shopsmith part number 505506. 5/8" diameter shaft 3/4" thick space. I am missing the 3/4" spacer. Shopsmith does not sell just the spacer so unless I can find one I will need to purchase a complete Arbor.

Thank you for that clarification. I was thinking cutter blades and clippers.

Thank you for that clarification. I was thinking cutter blades and clippers. I totally misunderstood.

We have had this discussion here more than once.

Are you referring to this page?

http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/cata ... oarbor.htm

If so the dimensions are in serious doubt. It says the threaded shaft is 3 1/8" long. That is incorrect. The two arbors I have are a total 3 3/8" long and the threaded shaft is 1 7/8" long. It says a 3/4" spacer but the two I have are 5/8". Look at the picture of mine with the 5/8" spacer. It is clearly the same as the one on the above page that says 3/4".

These arbors have been made with a bunch of different dimensions over the years. Some have 3/4" spacers. Some have 5/8" spacers. Some have key ways some don't. The threaded shaft has been a few different lengths. Some threaded shafts are threaded all the way, some are not. Some have flats for a wrench on the spindle end some do not.

None that I have seen have part numbers on them so there is no way to know what individual arbors came with what parts.

See this thread for more pictures and discussion...

Don't blame me on the 3-1/8, 3-3/8" measurement discrepancy. I am only quoting Shopsmith part number 505506 description. If I had one to measure I wouldn't need one. Please look up the part for clarification of my post.

What I am missing is the "big" single spacer That is described by Shopsmith as 3/4" thick in the product description. I have the two smaller ones and the lock washer. If anyone has an extra "big" spacer they want to get rid of please PM me. My problem is I cannot use the two outside Dado blades alone without a spacer of some sort because the threads don't go all the way down. I would be happy with either 3/4" or 5/8".

I am certainly not blaming you. I did look up the part and that is why I posted what I did. I asked you if the link I posted was where you got your numbers. The first dimension is totally incorrect, not even close. The discrepancy is 3 1/8" vs 1 7/8". The point is there are errors on the SS web site and this is not the only one that has been reported by folks here. If the first dimension is in error than in my opinion second is in question. That is confirmed by what I own from SS. Both numbers on that page are in error.

I was just trying to point out there are a lot of iterations of the arbor in question. If you want a 3/4" spacer then find one or buy a new complete arbor. :)

Sorry, I just realized I did not include the link I referred to in the other post. I have corrected that. This is the link...

Everything else I said above stands.

All I have to go on is the Shopsmith description. In the first link you posted "beginning-woodworking-f6/10er-table-saw-blade-attachment-t20047.html"
In the picture 20170416_121813.jpg I have the top right arbor. It is probably the same as the picture 20170613_174012.jpg you posted above.

I know all about the SS description errors. I sent an hour with tech support trying to purchase a new carriage bumper that was 1-3/8" not 1-1/2". Shopsmith list three different part numbers for bumpers. Tech support could not tell me the dimensions on any of them. The person I talked to did not have a ruler to measure the two bumpers they still had in stock. One bumper is still listed in the catalog but it has been discontinued. I finally gave up and bought the one I wanted on eBay.

Michael

Do you really think the person you talked to has all the parts at their desk at an arms length to measure them?

I will say again, if you want a 3/4" thick spacer for your arbor then find one. You have obviously totally misunderstood my intent of giving you some information you may not of had. Sorry I pi**ed you off. That was not my intention. I have nothing more to say. Have a nice day.

I am not upset. I do not think that that the tech support people have every part in front of them. In fact my last post agreed with you about the description errors. I spent 40 years doing tech support and customer service for fortune 100 companies. I was very good at it. I can tell you that based on my experience SS tech support is not up to par with any of those fortune 100 companies. I don't get mad at them or anyone else. Life is too short for that.

The reason I posted here was because I wanted to find just a spacer. I don't have one and I have never seen one so I used SS specs. 3/4" or 5/8" I don't know and I don't care as long as it works. I was hoping I would not need to buy a complete new arbor for just that one spacer. I was hoping someone had a spare they wanted to get rid of. I was not looking for a fight and I do not have an attitude ever. When I post I always have a smile on my face and a sense of humor. I know that people post without reading the original post carefully so misunderstanding occur.

I apologize if you misunderstood my post. Obviously I was misinformed about the measurements. Bad information always leads to disputes. That was not my intention. I was not remotely pi**ed in any way and I meant no disrespect.

If I can't find a spacer I will order a complete Dado arbor. Thank you for your advice and time.

Michael, I'm in need of a tongue washer for one of those myself. If you do order a new arbor, I'd be happy to chip in.
