Frequently we get new members or visitors with questions regarding the ability of the SS to create different projects such as pen turning, bowl turning, furniture etc. The forum although searchable is cumbersome for finding examples of the the projects our members produce. It would be nice to have a specific place for those people to go to visualize the capabilities of the SS and our members. What I would like to propose is starting threads with specific titles such as Gallery Pen Turnings, Gallery Bowl Turnings, Gallery SS Fixtures etc. where we can post pictures with a brief explanation and are easily found on the forum. Prefacing with the word gallery would simplify the searches.

Re: A proposal for everyone
Not a bad idea at all. To make it work, the masses must conform. Good Luck.
What do you intend to entitle your opening gallery?

Re: A proposal for everyone
Would this idea go back to the beginning and organize all the post into the right topic?

Re: A proposal for everyone
Maybe you could volunteer your time and effort to make that happen. Do you realize how many posts/threads you are talking about. Each and everyone of them would have to be read and categorized.Hobbyman2 wrote:Would this idea go back to the beginning and organize all the post into the right topic?
Never happen. Just like my computer. All sorts of things are in the wrong place but every time I think about reorganizing I change my mind. I'll live with what I have, at least until I get a new computer (before the summer is out).

Re: A proposal for everyone
I wasn't thinking of reorganizing what has already been posted. If anyone would like they can go back and post photos of past projects into the new threads. I agree that reorganizing the previously posted material probably would not work. As far as first category how about chairs? Some of you have made some pretty impressive rocking chairs. Under jigs and fixtures the first one has to be the king of sleds ! I am going to the dentist right now but when I get home I will start a couple of threads and let's see how it goes.

Re: A proposal for everyone
Idea: Could we open a project gallery thread with a rule post starting and then each reply would consist of 1 photo of the finished product and the link to the thread to get all the info? I wanted to do this for shopsmith cabinets and modifications (shorties, drill presses, etc...) As a sort of phone book for projects new and old. But all posts would just have a title, photo, and URL link to original thread.masonsailor2 wrote:Frequently we get new members or visitors with questions regarding the ability of the SS to create different projects such as pen turning, bowl turning, furniture etc. The forum although searchable is cumbersome for finding examples of the the projects our members produce. Only if all posters followed your "rules".Beave2012 wrote:Idea: Could we open a project gallery thread with a rule post starting and then each reply would consist of 1 photo of the finished product and the link to the thread to get all the info?
