What is really sad in all of this is the fact that Sawstop may have come with the way to detect flesh at the blade but Bosch's execution of what then happens is superior. They accomplish the same protection but at a much cheaper recovery cost. They do not ruin the blade or crash it into anything that is damaged. All that needs replaced is the actual trigger.

I hope Busch and Sawstop work something out.

Another interesting aspect of all this is EU safety standards have almost eliminated "tablesaws" from the home hobbiest and from many production plants. Dado blades are prohibited as are many Saw configurations. This is what started the rise of track saws in the first place.

I also suspect Sawstop had nearly saturated the market here in the US and I don't think with the EU standards they never had much of a market in Europe. That leaves me to wonder if Festool was looking to get the technology to incorporate in their products. With any Sawstop business as merely icing on the cake.

This situation is definitely worth watching. Also both Bosch and Festool are German companies. I wonder it the may join forces using Sawstop flesh detection technology and Bosch's execution of the protection?
