I have a couple of dozen claw hammers now but I still keep buying them along. I have at least a dozen blacksmithing hammers, a good sized batch of machinist hammers, plenty of mallets and other soft hammers, maybe 5 tire mounting/dismounting hammers etc. etc.
I've mentioned here before about how my wife and I discuss buying hammers at yard sales. It almost always starts with my picking up a hammer and looking at it followed by her saying "Why are you looking at that hammer, you already have dozens". My standard response is "But I don't have THIS ONE"...
The one I got today was marked a $1 but I also bought a nice little 1,000# differential type chain hoist for $20 and got the guy to throw in the $1 hammer on the deal.
The chain hoist goes in the farm shop to use in a secondary bay for lighter work like
lawn tractors and small implements. I have a heavier hoist in the main work bay. The hammer goes to a barn down the road. I like having a lot of extra tools so I can keep a few items in other buildings and in tractor tool boxes.
