I bought a good 16 oz. claw hammer at a yard sale today.
I have a couple of dozen claw hammers now but I still keep buying them along. I have at least a dozen blacksmithing hammers, a good sized batch of machinist hammers, plenty of mallets and other soft hammers, maybe 5 tire mounting/dismounting hammers etc. etc.
I've mentioned here before about how my wife and I discuss buying hammers at yard sales. It almost always starts with my picking up a hammer and looking at it followed by her saying "Why are you looking at that hammer, you already have dozens". My standard response is "But I don't have THIS ONE"... I have realized more recently that I am now mostly buying yard sale hammers just to aggravate my wife...
The one I got today was marked a $1 but I also bought a nice little 1,000# differential type chain hoist for $20 and got the guy to throw in the $1 hammer on the deal.
The chain hoist goes in the farm shop to use in a secondary bay for lighter work like
lawn tractors and small implements. I have a heavier hoist in the main work bay. The hammer goes to a barn down the road. I like having a lot of extra tools so I can keep a few items in other buildings and in tractor tool boxes.

Both, in the kitchen (cookware) and the

Yes, I DO pick up antique cookware at
DI (Deseret Industries, an LDS church
version of Goodwill) and Goodwill.

I also get canning jars at DI, for a
quarter each. (Sets him off as well.)

Whenever I bought a new tool I used to try to explain what it did and why it was necessary. Now I just say to my wife "it cuts wood." She rolls her eyes, and life goes on.

I'd rather have a screwdriver. If I had a screwdriver I'd screw in the morning, I'd screw in the evening all over this land. Too many loose screws and nothing to tighten them with. So sad.

Recently when contemplating what I needed to do and staring at at 16 lb sledge with welded steel handle and bull-prick, I was almost ready to start singing "If I had a jack hammer... I hammer about 5 minutes, and I would be done..."

I had to drill centering holes and use screw clamps to hold the bull-prick in place so I could use the sledge, then an angle grinder for cutting out some rebar that they felt was necessary to embed in the mix. Took three hours, and some Advil, but got it done.

Hmm your logic is spot on. Can't argue there. Now the question is... Do I hold out until I find 10e sn 00001 or just get the next one that pops up as a deal on Craigslist.... Either way I have to finish my 1955 greenie restoration before I buy another. Already have 5 currently in my 3rd stall of my garage. Unless I hang the 10e from the ceiling. i just don't have space.

You always have room for one more, I have found, that you can put all of a 10 ER in a 30 gal Rubber---- tote, and put the tote under a V and hang the bench tubes from the ceiling. Just Saying the tote is a little heavy but one more 10 10 E 10 ER Help me I cant stop I talk to them also DOWeaver Indianapolis IN
