I feel so stupid!

Let's start by saying that I'm a mechanical person. I am a ASE Master tech. But I was floored today. I have been having trouble with my shopsmith bandsaw cutting and burning blades. As I change yet another blade I just now noticed the teeth were going the wrong way. No matter how I turned and flipped this thing it was still upside down.
Now most reading this post will already know the problem, but I took a break for lunch and as I sat there eating my sandwich it hit me like a bolt of lightning!
The stupid blade was turned inside out! Went straight to the shop and flipped it inside out and voila, teeth going the correct way and cuts like butter. Looked at the one I just took off and it too was turned inside out.
Has anyone else pulled a dumb moment like this or is it just me?

Yup! Moments like that are common for me. I have done the same thing but more embarrassing was mounting a table saw blade backwards and being overly concerned that it did not cut right. Yes, it made its way through a work piece but not pleasantly. Long, long ago I must add.

Me too. I have put a saw blade on backwards. Never done it on the band saw. My question for those that have done it, how did the band saw blade get turned inside out? The normal coiling process will not do it. It seems like it would take a lot of deliberate effort to turn it inside out.

No extra effort. It's how it uncoiled from the package. The last two were this way.

No extra effort. It's how it uncooked from the package. The last two were this way.

SS blades? Wow, that is not good. If they are SS contact customer support and let them know. Sounds like they were welded incorrectly/backwards.

Seen the same thing with chain saw chains. makes smoke and wont cut

SS blades? Wow, that is not good. If they are SS contact customer support and let them know. Sounds like they were welded incorrectly/backwards.

It was easily fixed by twisting them inside out. Then I installed it and all was good.
