Favorite Summer Beverage

Post by Dansmith »

Done woodworking for the day, and sitting here drinking a Guinness Stout, one of my favorite beers.

Better yet is what I call a Guinness Float. Had one yesterday. Put some vanilla ice cream in a large glass. Add a Guinness, and then add a little whisky (I like to add Crown maple flavored), and stir a little. Then enjoy.

What are some of your favorites (and they don't have to be with alcohol)?

Oh man I used to bartend so I'm all over the place. Here are some top 5 on a hot day.

1. Ice cold All Day IPA. It's a session IPA made by Founders.
2. Gin and tonic with two limes
3. Moscow Mule
4. Mojito with fresh mint from the garden if I'm feeling like something sweet
5. If I'm floating in the pool I like to break out the frozen drink maker and make a Miami Vice with fresh pineapple in the glass and pretend I'm on a beach in Mexico. A Miami vice is strawberry daiquiri and pina colada layered in a glass.

I don't have a favorite but yours sounds great. I will have to try it. I love Guinness. It is absolutely the best malt beverage made. Smooth, creamy and very low in alcohol. It would be great with my home made vanilla ice cream.

Cmn135, those all sound refreshing. Tried a Moscow Mule for the first time recently, and it was good.

1/3 Ocean Spray Canberry Pomegranate cocktail and 2/3s Ginger Ale.
Very refreshing and quenches your thirst instantly.

Where are you in Idaho. Unless it is in Coeur d'Alene we are not too far away. My first duty station in the Air Force in 1972 was Mountain Home. I will be in Boise in September (14 - 17) on a 2 day three night wine tasting sponsored by the Hill AFB MWR program. $590 all inclusive for two people, transportation, hotel, all winery fees and a beautiful gourmet lunch each day at the wineries.

My favorite hot weather drink is a glass of good old tap water with some ice thrown in. Nothing makes me feel as good as water.
Once I'm indoors where it is cool, a bit of Canadian whiskey with water and ice is nice.

Two shots of wiskey, and a mug of hot, black coffee. Down one shot and sip the other with the java. Picked up the habit while stationed at Kunsan AB. Nothing better after an all night shift of snow removal back then, or after the financials get published now adays.
