Skechup and Windows 10

Post by dusty »

Is there anyone on the forum who uses Sketchup with Windows 10 on a touch screen tablet (ie Surface Pro 3) without employing a mouse?

I have Windows 10 and Sketchup on a Dell laptop that also has a touch screen capability. I thought I would use it a lot for graphics programs like Sketchup and Aspire but it has not turned out that way. I rarely use it for anything including Sketchup. That might just be my issue of not wanting to go through the learning curve but I have used a mouse for so long it is just second nature. I do have a tablet that has no mouse so I am forced to use the touch screen on it but I don't use it for any serious work. Sorry this probably not much help.

Fortunately, my tablet supports a mouse so I can go that route but that is not in keeping with why I bought the tablet. I wanted something to use while I am in the wait mode (doctors office, etc.)

I am finding that I like the tablet and Windows 10. Windows does provide a mouse like feature with the tablet but Sketchup does not recognize it.

I hate using touchpads, so I tote a small wireless mouse when I use my laptop away from my desk. Usually I just put it in my front pocket to carry, and the USB receiver is miniscule.

This may be the only viable solution at this time. As long as I use the mouse (no touch pad functions), Sketchup works fine for me on the tablet (Microsoft Surface Pro 3). I am really surprised that Trimble has allowed this to happen. To me, it appears that Trimble did not test using a touchpad.
