I have a chance to pick a Goldie tomorrow for extremely cheap. One family ownwership and comes with all manuals. My question is are the internal parts interchangeable with the current Mark 510's and if not are those parts still available. Did they have the 1 1/8 hp motor and if not can I retrofit one in ? I have all the parts and motor from when I did the PP upgrade on a 510.

Re: Need some info
Early Goldies have the gilmer drive and 3/4 hp motor, later ones have the 1 1/8 motor and micro v belt drive. Yes all models are upgradable.masonsailor2 wrote:I have a chance to pick a Goldie tomorrow for extremely cheap. One family ownwership and comes with all manuals. Re: Need some info
A Gilmer machine has some 'issues'. The only Gilmer part still available is the belt. The control sheave, the drive sleeve and the quill are no longer available from the MS. They are often found on E-Bay however.
Poly-v machine, no sweat!
P.S. The Gilmer machines can be 'upgraded' to Poly-v by replacing those three assemblies mentioned above(and a poly-v belt also).
