Carpet in the shop
Put a new carpet in this weekend and have some extra. Has anyone ever tried using carpet as a pad on the shop floor in front of their tools?

Yes, it will get full of sawdust. If you don't have dust collection it will need vaccumed often. I ended up cutting it all back to just a 4 foot square in front of the house door.

Re: Carpet in the shop
My shop is in my basement of my house. When I bought the house, that area was a rec room and was carpeted. I ended up tearing out the carpet and painting the concrete. The carpet was messy and hard to clean compared to concrete. When I need a pad to stand on, I use the thick rubber mats rather than carpet.
Rubber is easy to clean of sawdust. Carpet isn't.
