I've made another update and it works for my test. I'm not sure this solves it universally. Let me know if you still have problems with it.

Indeed. Shopsmith contacted me a couple of months ago and asked permission to use one of my videos. I happily agreed. That video was Jon's first time in a canoe and his paddling technique has improved a lot since then. Although we did dump in the Potomac this summer the first time he was in white water because he didn't understand the urgency of paddling fast in those situations. :o Suffice it to say he learned that lesson and we had no problems after that.
