Besides it's more obvious uses, AAA used it when I locked my keys in the truck.
Thought it might be a a good thing to carry in the truck console...then I re-thought that. :o

I have been rescued with one of those when I locked my keys in too. :o

Eventually I got smart and started carrying a spare door key in my wallet. :) It has got me out of trouble many times.

They look like they could be handy to have around the shop on occasion.
Oh, and Lee Valley sells something similar. http://www.leevalley.com/us/wood/page.a ... at=1,43456

Our vehicles have numbered buttons to enter a code to unlock the doors. Wife suggested we write the code on cards and keep them in the glove boxes.
Be just my luck that they got mixed up. :D

We have a magnetic key holder hidden on the vehicle, of course now that is way past its prime I think it would be safe to just store it in the ignition....

When I grew up one never had to look for their keys they were always left in the unlocked car in the ignition except perhaps if we went to the city where we might stick them in our pocket if we planned to leave the car for a while.

America I miss you.

I'm with you, Ed. We never used to lock either the house or the car. Now the place is a bit like a fort. Security cameras, motion detectors, door alarms and programmable keys.

We used to be close friends with a gentleman who carved headstones. He did some work for us on a large rock, one of many in and around our yard, to provide a hiding place for house and car keys. I never used to give it a thought but now I am not sure that I could roll it over to retrieve the keys.

I do miss the "small town America life style".

Our home is in rural northern AZ. We're a quarter mile off the closest road and, its a dirt road. We're pretty much in the sticks.
Keys are kept in the vehicles. House doors are always un locked. Occasionally, the shop gets locked. Priorities, ya know.
Both our sons live in Tucson and, one of my sisters lives in a Chicago burb. When any of them come to visit, the doors get locked at night to assuage their paranoia.
