CC cleaner

Post by garys »

Hopefully nobody here is using CC cleaner on their computer. It has a backdoor on it that allows viruses and spyware to load freely to your computer rather than clean the computer for you.

It is only the 32 bit version, the 64 bit it's unaffected. Great program. I used it professionally for years.

I have used it in the past but since I am currently running a 32 bit machine I will not be reloading it right now.

Thanks for the warning, gary.

I find it particularly interesting that the folks who wrote the software released this statement.
"Based on further analysis, we found that the 5.33.6162 version of CCleaner and the 1.07.3191 version of CCleaner Cloud was illegally modified before it was released to the public, and we started an investigation process."

"Before" it was released tells me that the malware was put in by the originators of CC cleaner. If that happened, I would have a problem ever trusting any other version they put out.
The old saying applies here. "Cheat me once, shame on you. Cheat me twice, shame on me."

In this small world that I live in there is no CCleaner. It has been removed from all the places that I had it loaded. It is not cleaner than maybe it ever has been.
